Inspiration

75% of solo travelers are women, but 69% say fear of harassment stops them. Women have been hacking together their own safety systems for years: phrasebooks, group chats, screenshots. There's no single tool that brings it all together. We built BW to close that gap.

What it does

A one-stop PWA for women who plan to travel.

  • Search and filter 160+ countries by safety scores and risk levels.
  • Discover safe locations, verified spots, and community-recommended places worldwide.
  • Quick access to emergency tools and monitoring (SOS, fake-call, check-in timer).
  • Essential phrases for safe travel in 15+ languages, fully offline.
  • Generate a customized safety prep list based on your trip profile.
  • Store vital medical and emergency info offline on your device via QR-coded Travel ID.
  • Read and share anonymous experiences from women worldwide.

How we built it

Using Medo and Claude. Stack: React, Tailwind, Shadcn UI, Three.js, Leaflet, Recharts, jsPDF.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing anonymity in community reports with safety from misuse.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The quality of the prompt is the quality of the product. Safety is a UX problem as much as a tech problem — the fake-call feature is just a screen and a sound, but it could change someone's outcome. Building for the worst connection means building for the worst situation, which is exactly when the app needs to work. The app/website works well :)
