Inspiration

The Purdue Housing Crisis

What it does

Shows incoming and current students the community's overall feeling towards dorms of Purdue. It also provides a way for new students to chat with others and find prospective roommates, and for old students to leave reviews about their experience.

How we built it

We built this through Javascript, HTML, and CSS. We used Firebase as our database, and used Stackblitz and Github to work on this project concurrently.

Challenges we ran into

We flew too close to the sun. It was almost perfect, but we broke the star rating functionality in the last 10 minutes. Whoops. :(

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to create a functional website that included a dynamic rating system, as well as persistent comments and reviews for the dorms.

What we learned

A life lesson. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Cliches never felt so real.

What's next for BoilerLiving

We can continue to iterate on our design. We can expand to cover apartments surrounding the Purdue campus, add details about pricing, etc.
