Inspiration
We've always admired clean and modern websites but never had the opportunity to build one until now. Seeing other first place hackathon projects inspired us to strive and put our best work forward in the time possible.
What it does
Takes user data and calculates various values regarding health and diet. Based on medically used calculation methods, each user is given their personalized BMR and daily caloric intake. Based on the inputted data and calculations the user will either be categorized as underweight, healthy weight, overweight, or obese. The user will have access to useful and reliable resources, along with our medically backed tips on how to move forward.
How we built it
We used replit to work collaboratively. BodyBlueprint is built using HTML, CSS, JS, and python.
Challenges we ran into
Prior to this, none of us had any experience using HTML/CSS/JS, so our own limited knowledge was definitely a challenge. We also had issues with collaborating due to the fact that the website would appear different on different people's screens (e.x margins). Timing was also a major issue, as most people were busy. One of our teammates even flew back to the U.S mid hackathon and had to try and catch up to speed!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In our opinion, we are proud that we were able to build a nice looking website in such a short amount of time and with little experience in HTML/CSS.
What we learned
In the span of these 2 days, we learned how to write a HTML/CSS/JS website from the ground up, relying on documentation to guide us. We also learned the importance of inter-team communication and creativity when it comes to solving problems.
What's next for BodyBlueprint
With more time and knowledge, we could definitely see BBP turning into an app format. We would also love to add more features involving personal workout and diet plans.
