Inspiration
There is an exciting new phenomena currently circulating in the fitness industry called Body Recomposition. As a resistance training athlete myself, I am intrigued and excited by this concept of burning fat and building muscle! This quick calorie calculator makes it easy to take the first step towards Body Recomposition.
What it does
Body Recomposition is a contemporary term used by some practitioners to classify a process by which the body simultaneously builds muscle and sheds fat; a phenomenon previously thought to be impossible. The key elements of body recomposition are a high-protein and calorie specified diet coupled with high-intensity and efficient resistance training.
This program takes user input and returns a quick and personalized calorie count appropriate for body recomposition. This small program has great application for experienced athletes or new lifters looking to optimize their training.
The Ultimate Guide to Body Recomposition by Jeff Nippard was referenced for formulae as well as useful background knowledge. Jeff's program is well-researched and generally trusted in the fitness industry. I am excited for you all to see the functionality and value of Body Recomposition Buddy!
How I built it
I build Body Recomposition Buddy with MecSimCalc and python programming language! MecSimCalc made creating a simple and effective app a breeze!
Body Recomposition Buddy contains about 60 lines of pep8-adherent, modularized, and commented python code!
Challenges I ran into
Working in MecSimCalc is not as easy as knowing python syntax. MecSimCalc has its own unique structuring of data and how this data is navigated from input, to code, to output! Learning the workings of this amazing tool was challenging, rewarding, and fun!
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Overall I am very proud of what I was able to create using MecSimCalc and python! It is an amazing feeling to have something useful and useable at the tips of my fingers that I created! I am proud of how I persevered through writing the code and the countless errors that came my way.
This was a great experience! THANK YOU
