Inspiration

We were inspired by the importance of women’s health and the need to make education about the human body more approachable and inclusive. Too often, topics around anatomy are overlooked or presented in ways that feel inaccessible. Our idea was to design a tool that sparks curiosity, normalizes conversations about the body, and empowers students, teachers, and parents with interactive learning.

What it does

Body Quest is an interactive platform concept where students could click to learn more about the women's body. Each click would bring up a fun fact, and we wanted a chatbot would explain the body part in simple, age-appropriate language (coded but did not work on the demo.) The goal behind the idea was to make anatomy engaging and accessible for K-12 audiences while promoting open learning about the human body.

How we envisioned building it

We planned to use Streamlit to create the interactive interface. The design would integrate with the Gemini API to fetch and display body facts, while keeping the look playful and simple to make it suitable for younger students.

Challenges we considered

One of the biggest challenges we anticipated was balancing our time. We were not only hacking but also volunteering and organizing the workshop. This meant we had to carefully scope the project and keep the idea simple. On the technical side, we also expected challenges with installation and quickly learning to use APIs effectively.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

We’re proud that, despite juggling multiple responsibilities, we came up with an idea that feels both fun and approachable. We also pushed ourselves to think about integrating APIs, which was new to most of us, and learned how it could be applied even under time pressure.

What we learned

We learned how important it is to scope projects realistically in a hackathon setting, especially when balancing outside responsibilities. We also grew our understanding of APIs and interactive features, and realized that even simple concepts can have meaningful impact when rooted in a strong mission.

What’s next for Body Quest

Looking ahead, we’d love to expand the concept to include multiple age profiles (for example, tailoring explanations for middle or high school students). We’d also like to enrich the content with women’s health–focused modules, connect to more diverse educational APIs, and improve the chatbot to support more personalized Q&A. In the long term, we imagine Body Quest as a classroom resource that helps spark curiosity and confidence in learning about the body.
