Inspiration - Ever saw someone on wheel chair going for fishing? Do they also deserve to get an income in the blue economy?
What it does - We have built a prototype boat that showcases how a person with disability can go for fishing and fish using an automatic fishing system and an automatic ramp system.
The boat also has an octagon layers that has the ability to stabilise while sailing.
How we built it- We are using coding to program arduino kits that contain sensors and drivers like Ultrasonic Sensor, servo motor and LEDs.
Challenges we ran into- Access to the Arduino devices
Accomplishments that we're proud of- The project came second during the Pwani innovation week competition on the category of disability inclusion. The project won the Robotics competition hosted by Kenya Red Cross Society.
What we learned- We have progressed so much from manual boat to an automated boat. Also we have redesign the Hull system. and changed a few science and engineering laws.
What's next for Boat for person's with immobility. - We are looking to participate in the Kenya Innovation week so as to gain national recognition and later resource mobilise so to build the actual boat.
