BoardMind

BoardMind is an AI-powered executive decision platform that enables business leaders and AI agents to collaborate through WebMCP. Instead of simply visualizing business data, it helps organizations investigate problems, understand root causes, and make evidence-based decisions faster.

Inspiration

Modern businesses generate enormous amounts of data, yet executives still spend hours switching between dashboards, reports, spreadsheets, and meetings before making a single decision. Traditional business intelligence platforms explain what happened, but rarely explain why it happened or what should happen next.

At the same time, AI assistants have become increasingly capable, but most enterprise applications are still designed only for humans. AI agents are forced to interpret interfaces visually, making automation slower and less reliable.

We wanted to explore a different future—one where enterprise software is designed for both people and AI agents.

This led us to build BoardMind, an AI-powered executive decision platform that uses WebMCP to expose structured business capabilities. Instead of navigating dashboards manually, AI agents can securely discover tools, retrieve business insights, collaborate with executives, and recommend actions through a reliable agent-native interface.

What it does

BoardMind transforms traditional dashboards into an intelligent executive workspace where humans and AI agents collaborate on business decisions.

The platform provides:

  • Executive dashboards with interactive business KPIs
  • AI-generated executive summaries
  • Evidence-backed recommendations instead of black-box answers
  • Business simulations for evaluating decisions before implementation
  • Multi-agent collaboration across Finance, Marketing, Operations, HR, Engineering and Strategy
  • Decision history, observability and audit trails
  • Role-based executive experiences

The core innovation is its WebMCP integration.

Instead of AI attempting to understand the interface visually, BoardMind exposes structured tools that agents can discover and execute directly. Agents can retrieve KPIs, analyze risks, investigate evidence, generate executive reports, coordinate workflows and collaborate with leadership through standardized interfaces.

This creates a faster, more reliable and significantly more transparent experience for both executives and AI systems.

How we built it

BoardMind consists of two production-ready services that communicate through secure APIs.

Frontend

  • Next.js
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Framer Motion
  • Recharts

The frontend was designed as a modern executive workspace with interactive dashboards, business simulations, evidence panels and collaborative boardroom workflows.

Backend

  • FastAPI
  • Python
  • SQLite
  • Docker

The backend powers analytics, simulations, recommendations, observability, authentication and AI workflows through modular APIs.

WebMCP

The most important part of the project is the WebMCP integration.

Instead of requiring AI systems to navigate a graphical interface, BoardMind exposes structured capabilities that agents can discover and invoke directly.

Examples include:

  • Retrieve KPIs
  • Generate executive summaries
  • Launch investigations
  • Run business simulations
  • Analyze evidence
  • Review recommendations
  • Coordinate boardroom workflows

This makes interactions significantly more reliable than traditional UI automation while allowing executives to remain in full control of every decision.

Deployment

  • Frontend deployed on Vercel
  • Backend deployed on Render
  • Dockerized backend for production deployment

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was shifting from a traditional dashboard mindset to an agent-first architecture.

Designing software for humans is familiar. Designing software that humans and AI agents can use together required us to rethink how every business capability should be exposed.

Another major challenge involved production deployment. Coordinating a Next.js frontend with a FastAPI backend required resolving API routing, environment variables, HTTPS communication, CORS configuration and production deployment across multiple cloud platforms.

We also spent considerable effort making the interface feel like real enterprise software while ensuring the backend remained modular and scalable for future agent capabilities.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're especially proud that BoardMind evolved far beyond its original concept.

Highlights include:

  • Successfully integrating WebMCP into a practical enterprise workflow
  • Designing an executive-focused multi-agent collaboration system
  • Building interactive dashboards instead of static business reports
  • Creating explainable recommendations supported by evidence
  • Implementing business simulations for decision planning
  • Deploying a complete production-ready frontend and backend
  • Building an interface that feels like modern enterprise software instead of a hackathon prototype

Most importantly, BoardMind demonstrates a real-world scenario where WebMCP genuinely improves the user experience instead of simply being included as a requirement.

What we learned

This project fundamentally changed how we think about AI-powered software.

We learned that the future isn't about AI replacing decision-makers—it's about enabling humans and AI agents to collaborate through well-defined capabilities.

Technically, we gained practical experience with:

  • WebMCP
  • Agent-oriented application architecture
  • FastAPI
  • Next.js
  • Production deployment
  • Docker
  • Cross-service communication
  • Enterprise workflow design
  • Secure API development

Perhaps the biggest lesson was that exposing structured capabilities through WebMCP produces a significantly more reliable interaction model than expecting AI systems to interpret complex graphical interfaces.

What's next for BoardMind

BoardMind is designed as the foundation for a much larger enterprise decision platform.

Our next goals include:

  • Native WebMCP support across every business module
  • Live integrations with Salesforce, Jira, SAP, Slack and Google Workspace
  • Persistent long-term agent memory
  • Multi-step executive approval workflows
  • Autonomous monitoring of live business events
  • Predictive planning using real company data
  • Multi-organization enterprise deployment
  • Secure organization-level permissions and governance

Our long-term vision is to build an operating system for executive decision-making where humans and AI agents collaborate naturally through WebMCP, enabling organizations to make faster, more transparent and better-informed decisions.
