Inspiration

As a board game creator, I wanted a faster way to turn prototype ideas into printable cards. Beyond Canva, I needed a tool tailored to board game design: one that helps me upload assets, generate missing cards, and quickly iterate on a project.

What it does

Board Game Card Studio lets creators upload and visualize game assets, generate card content with AI, and edit cards for rapid prototyping and printing.

How we built it

The app was built fully with Codex, Next.js, and React. It uses a simple backend that calls an LLM to generate card content.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was keeping the workflow simple and fast while still making generated cards useful and easy to edit for real prototype testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a focused tool that helps transform rough board game ideas into editable, printable cards without needing to build every card manually.

What we learned

We learned how quickly lightweight web apps can be built with simpler backends, especially when using Codex to accelerate development.

What's next for Board Game Card Studio

We’ll refine the app for scalability and add more editing options, such as AI-assisted improvements to card descriptions and other card details.
