BlueSpot

Think Yelp, but Pokemon-Go style. That’s the theme we had in mind while developing BlueSpot, an AR message visualization application designed for posting location-specific messages. With a simple scan of one’s phone camera, one can see not only what people commented on, but how popular locations are. Whether it’s recommending a restaurant or describing one’s take on a tourist spot, BlueSpot allows people to utilize the power of context in their messages.

Here’s a couple of the technologies that went into creating BlueSpot:

Unity Engine:

Allowed for cross-platform development of the application, and provided tools to create a quick and clean UI

Utilized the ARFoundation package to render message objects in an augmented reality environment, as well as to detect surfaces for placing them

Firebase:

Leveraged Firebase’s Realtime Database service to read/write data to a REST API, primarily used for storing user, message, and location information
