Blueprint was inspired by the challenges people face in managing health expenses and finding proper support. One of our friends had a loved one diagnosed with a rare disease, but no one around them knew how to help. They needed personal guidance but struggled to find reliable resources. This experience showed us the need for an app that connects users to specialized healthcare centers, support groups, and budgeting tools to help them navigate both financial and medical challenges effectively.
What It Does
Blueprint offers three core features:
Community Support – Connects users with support groups, shared resources, health stories, and a Q&A section to seek advice from others facing similar challenges. Professional Guidance – Helps users locate specialized healthcare centers and professionals while providing access to health-related articles and tips. Budget Tracker – Enables users to track health expenses and set a budget, ensuring they manage their finances wisely while prioritizing their health. How We Built It
We developed Blueprint using MIT App Inventor, a platform that allowed us to design an intuitive and accessible mobile app. We focused on creating a simple and user-friendly interface while integrating features like searchable support groups, an interactive map for healthcare centers, and budget-tracking tools. Our team collaborated to ensure smooth navigation and meaningful features for users.
Challenges We Ran Into
Data Organization – Structuring and categorizing healthcare centers, support groups, and financial tools efficiently was a challenge. User-Friendly Design – Ensuring the interface was easy to navigate while still offering detailed information took multiple iterations. Integrating Budget Tracking – Making a reliable yet simple financial management system required careful planning and testing. Accomplishments That We Are Proud Of
Successfully integrating community support, professional guidance, and financial tools into a single platform. Building an intuitive and accessible app using MIT App Inventor despite initial learning curves. Creating a resource that connects users with local healthcare solutions and support networks tailored to their needs. What We Learned
The importance of user feedback in refining our app’s features and usability. How to work collaboratively to solve technical and design challenges. The real-world impact that an accessible health and budgeting app can have on individuals facing medical and financial struggles. What’s Next for Blueprint?
Our next steps include:
Expanding the database of healthcare centers and support groups for better accessibility. Enhancing budget-tracking features by incorporating more financial planning tools. Developing a web version to make Blueprint accessible across different platforms. Partnering with healthcare organizations to provide more reliable and updated resources. This is just the beginning—we’re committed to making healthcare advice more accessible, affordable, and supportive for everyone.
