Inspiration
FTC
What it does
End to end monolithic solution for FTC's timesinks
How we built it
Architected a solution in writeups, contexts, and code. Used Free ChatGPT GPT 5.5 Model to allow us to efficiently accelerate development.
Challenges we ran into
Using only free AI is a constraint that required us to architect our goals physically (whiteboard & sticky notes) and digitally (context.md's, goals, documents), to allow us to efficiently steer & orchestrate AI. Its also important for developers to review what the AI is doing—its not perfect. Manual input was required very frequently. Design guidance is something AI cannot understand—we NEEDED to steer it to avoid making AI slop. Using opensource github libraries like liquid-glass helped create an elegant design, though we also had to ensure the site's efficiency (too many graphical effects created a massive resource hog). Also, for the API within the project, using Google's AI studio to use a free & quick model was important, but some steering was required within the system prompt when instructing, to ensure it'd understand the needs of FTC.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Was able to create a solution that can potentially save up to thousands of man hours of time for FTC teams
What we learned
Sometimes, in development, you will face challenges, and your ambition will catch up to you. It is up to you to keep moving forward, and trim the fat to end with an MVP. Teamwork makes the dream work.
What's next for Blueprint
Further opensource development, more streamlined way for FTC teams to ingest and adapt to their needs.
NOTES
Though we've selected best UI/UX, we presumed we'd be considered between the other advanced teams—which wasn't an option. Please put us in whatever track is most appropriate. Thank you.
