Inspiration
Although there is a plethora of online taxi booking apps, we found some gaps in existing apps like inability to change phone numbers, scheduling future dated cabs and also booking cabs for cross cities. We try to address all these issues through our app with a very simple look and feel but easy to understand for users.
What it does
It is a online booking taxi which allows us to schedules rides, view rides and cancel rides. It also allows us to change phone numbers even if we have existing rides associated to it.
How we built it
We built this application using Java, Springboot, AWS (For cloud deployment), MYSQL RDS for storage , S3, Angular CLI (UI).
Challenges we ran into
Initially we started our application deployment using Oracle CLI and Kubernetes but we ran into deployment issues while creating clusters. Though, we had many lessons learnt and due to lack of time, we switched to AWS because of its ease of use for deployments.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to leverage multiple AWS services and picked up Infrastructure concepts of both Oracle cloud and AWS cloud.
What we learned
We were able to master and differentiate cloud services of both Oracle cloud and AWS cloud. We were able to build an end-end full stack application in a short span and deploy it successfully.
What's next for Blueline Taxi
We want to integrate periodic alerts for rides, emergency services like SOS for safety during rides where our location will be sent to our emergency contacts for realtime tracking.
