Inspiration
Welcome to BlueBottle. An app that encourages recycling through rewards and competitive challenges. We were inspired to tackle bettering the world through recycling and realized we could encourage users to participate in this by rewarding them through challenges and prizes, including NFTs.
What it does
Users upload pictures of empty water bottles they intend to recycle and collect points to earn more and more prizes that range from free meals at popular restaurants to exclusive NFT's offered by BlueBottles that represent the user's true passion for the betterment of our planet. Users are free to add their friends and challenge each other in fun ways and, ultimately, recycle!
How we built it
We used Figma to construct our design and intended functionality.
Challenges we ran into
It was very difficult to implement our solution with the given time constraints. More specifically, finding a way to validate the user's claim that they've recycled X amount of individual water bottles. We are currently working towards a machine-learning solution that employs computer vision to identify unique serial numbers that mark each water bottle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The idea and purpose of the app to motivate positive social change is one we're definitely proud of. Not to mention, we're very pleased with the overall UI/UX we are poised to provide based on our Figma design and the app's intended functionality. We are also pleased to have found a way to implement a scalable solution that has great outreach/accessbility. It focuses on a growing target audience with lots of potential for business growth.
What we learned
How complicated it can be to validate and confirm that certain actions have occurred on the user's end. As well, we learned how important branding and marketability are when creating great solutions.
What's next for BlueBottle
We plan to dive deep into both the NFT minting process, as well as the machine learning required to reliably identify when users have indeed recycled the bottles that they show in their uploaded pictures.
