Inspiration

As a team that loves cinematic storytelling, anime-style visuals, and emotional music videos, we’ve always been inspired by scenes that feel alive — rain, reflections, soft lighting, and music that carries memory. This project gave us the chance to finally create something emotionally heavy using AI tools that helped us bring imagination into reality.

What it is

Blue Rain — A Song of Time and Distance is an AI-crafted emotional music video built around a simple idea: How can rain bring back the moments we thought we forgot? For us, the rain becomes memory, comfort, childhood, love, and heartbreak. The music video follows a girl walking alone on a rainy evening — until one raindrop pulls her into a flood of past emotions with the boy she once loved. Through raindrop transitions, 360° rotations, tear ripples, and soft emotional lighting, the music video expresses: “Some memories return only with the rain.”

How we built it

This project was created entirely using generative tools and manual editing. We used:

  • Kling AI – for consistent character shots and two-frame motion
  • Morph Studio – for start-frame based video motion
  • Hailuo AI –for character movement, hair sway, blinking, and rain physics
  • RunAway AI– for editing images using multiple references
  • Freepik – for pose and character design inspiration
  • Google (Gemini) – for assistance in story planning, image refinement, and creative direction

We built the video scene by scene, referencing previous frames to maintain continuity in expressions, hair, lighting, and mood.

Challenges we ran into

  • Getting natural emotional expressions without distortion
  • Keeping characters consistent across many scenes
  • Tools generating wrong props or unnatural raindrops
  • Robotic animation from some AIs
  • Maintaining natural rain physics
  • Losing progress from errors/credits
  • Matching emotional timing with the music
  • Combining many tools into one consistent style

We created a complete AI-generated emotional music video — visuals, transitions, symbolism, and storytelling. We are proud of:
