Inspired by our own startup journey, we envisioned Bella, a cutting-edge AI chatbot powered by Vertex AI Agent Builder. Bella aims to be the face of Blue Phoenix Labs, engaging potential customers on WhatsApp and generating high-quality leads for our AI chatbot solutions.

What it does

Bella excels at guiding prospects through an educational conversation, asking crucial questions about their needs and business challenges. By understanding their specific requirements, Bella tailors an AI solution, emphasizing the benefits of using Google technologies like Dialogflow and Vertex AI. Ultimately, Bella aims to book a free consultation with an AI expert, driving prospects closer to becoming paying clients.

How we built it

-I leveraged Vertex AI Agent Builder and Gemini Flash models to power Bella's intelligence and natural language capabilities. -Initial brainstorming and idea generation were conducted through Gemini Chat browser, fueling our innovative chatbot concept. -A meticulously crafted set of prompts, examples, and a well-defined persona for Bella ensured her effective performance and a natural conversational flow. -We integrated Bella with Google Chat API, paving the way for seamless WhatsApp deployment through Twilio in the near future. -A Google Calendar booking appointment system allows prospects to schedule their free consultation with an AI specialist.

Challenges we ran into

-Training Bella to avoid out-of-scope answers and confidently handling pricing calculations proved to be initial obstacles. -Achieving the desired conversation flow and smoothly leading prospects to the free consultation link took extensive experimentation and fine-tuning of prompt design. -Integrating the booking calendar link directly into the chatbot dialogue instead of prompting for email and a later send posed a unique challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-We achieved a robust chatbot that guides customers through an engaging and informative conversation. -Bella demonstrates a clear understanding of our AI chatbot offerings, allowing her to suggest tailored solutions. -We successfully implemented Google Chat API integration, bringing us closer to WhatsApp deployment. -Bella consistently steers the conversation toward a free consultation booking, generating valuable leads.

What we learned

-Prompt engineering is key. Meticulous prompt design, including appropriate examples and structured instructions, is paramount for chatbot effectiveness. -A well-defined persona matters. A distinct personality and conversational tone make Bella more relatable and appealing. -Training takes time. Numerous iterations and adjustments were required to fine-tune Bella's performance. -Continuous testing is vital. Regular feedback loops helped us identify and address potential issues in Bella's behavior.
