Inspiration

Everyone's screen usage has increased a lot in today's world, people are sitting hours in front of their screen, which is obviously not entirely good. It is very important that people take some break and time away from the screen and relax themselves, but many times in between of work we tend to forget to take breaks. This is why we came up with Blue-breathe.

What it does

Blue-breathe is a reminder app which will basically notify the user in every hour to take a small break of 10 mins by sending a desktop notification. The app would also advise the user that they can go for a small walk , do some stretching exercises, drink water or even meditate during the break. This will help the user to recharge themselves for another hour and also give them a small break away from the screen.

How we built it

I used the plyer python package for this project. The plyer package provides a notification's module which can be used to send desktop notifications.

Challenges we ran into

This is the first time I was working with plyer python package. So it was interesting to go over the documentation and understand it and implement it.

What's next for Blue-breathe

For now, it is just a desktop notifier ,the next step would be to build a broader reminder application (For both desktop and mobile) in which the user can customize the break and work intervals. Also, the app can be integrated with basic stretching and meditating exercises that the user can do during the break.
