Inspiration
Financial literacy is rarely taught in a way that feels engaging. We wanted to create something that meets players where they already are—on Roblox—and turns money management into an interactive experience.
What it does
Blox Bucks is a Roblox-based finance simulator where players work jobs, earn income, budget expenses, and make spending decisions. The game rewards smart financial choices and shows the consequences of poor ones.
How we built it
We built Blox Bucks using Roblox Studio and Lua, designing systems for jobs, income, shops, and progression. We focused on simple UI and gameplay loops that make learning feel natural and fun.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing fun and education was difficult—we didn’t want the game to feel like a lesson. We also faced challenges designing fair progression and keeping the economy stable and engaging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a working financial system that feels fun to play while still teaching real-world concepts. We’re proud of making financial literacy accessible and enjoyable for younger audiences.
What we learned
We learned how to design game systems that teach without overwhelming players, improved our teamwork under time constraints, and gained experience building in Roblox Studio.
What's next for Blox Bucks
We plan to expand with features like banking, investing, and multiplayer interactions. We also want to add more jobs, customization, and deeper financial mechanics. We currently only have a base level of finance that we want to expand.
