Inspiration

Lists make every task look equally urgent. For many people — especially people with ADHD and other neurodivergent minds — that wall of text is exactly why they stop opening their to-do app. I wanted a to-do list you actually want to open: calm, playful, and honest about how heavy your day really is.

What it does

BLOPty turns your to-do list into bubbles you can pop. Every task is a bubble, sized by how much it weighs on you and coloured by mood, so you see the weight of your day at a glance. When a task is done, you pop it — with a sound and a little haptic reward.

How I built it

React Native with Expo (SDK 55) and Expo Router, Reanimated and Gesture Handler for the physics-like bubbles, Convex for the backend, auth and real-time sync, RevenueCat for purchases, and EAS for builds. I'm a designer, so every bubble, icon, animal, sound and screen was designed by me.

Challenges

Making bubbles feel alive without hurting performance, fitting text nicely inside circles in 11 languages, and getting purchases, trials and accounts to behave the same on Android and iOS.

What's next

BLOPty Play — a companion app with calm bubble games — plus rewards for popping tasks, home-screen widgets and an Apple Watch app.
