Inspiration
Our goal for this event was to build a full-stack app with an easy-to-use and good-looking frontend, as well as a functional backend.
What it does
This app recommends it's users various games that might interest them based on their previous activity
How we built it
To build the frontend of our app, we used React.js. The backend was developed with Python, in the Jupyter Notebook environment, making use of the Pandas library.
Challenges we ran into
This being our first time working with a data analysis structure of this depth and size, naturally, there were plenty. The biggest one was definitely having to learn Pandas, as well as working with Jupyter on the spot, as no one from our team worked with there tools in the past.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We love how our frontend turned out; user-friendly, easy-to-use and (in our opinion) a well-flavored interface.
What we learned
Our whole team learned a many useful concepts (for instance: working Pandas and Jupyter, theory of data analyzation, as well extending our backend knowledge), but our most important take-away was that we should put great importance on time-management and rest.
What's next for bloomreach-challenge
At the time of writing this, I can say with confidence that all of use are taking a break for a while , but after that we're looking forward to finishing this project.
