Inspiration

You want to show your appreciation for that special someone by gifting them a bouquet of flowers. Instead of purchasing a pre-made bouquet, why not make a do-it-yourself (DIY) bouquet to show that you put more effort into the gift? Bloomisio can help you with that.

What it does

Bloomisio has a selection of the most common Valentines flowers that customers can choose from. Customers can purchase a certain quantity of flowers of each type. Every order will come with the addition of eco-friendly bouquet wrapping paper and string so that customers can arrange the flowers and wrap them in the way that suits them. Bloomisio allows customers to create heartfelt bouquets for any occasion with the click of a button.

How I built it

I built Bloomisio using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). I used HTML for the structuring of Bloomisio and I used CSS for the presentation aspect of the website. There are some front-end aspects that can be incorporated with the use of JavaScript.

Challenges I ran into

I am practicing my skills in front-end web development. I currently know how to program with HTML and CSS, and I am in the process of learning to program with JavaScript. In turn, I could not incorporate certain aspects in to Bloomisio that I had intended, such as a carousel of images for the items being sold on the e-commerce, and/or placing items in the customer’s shopping cart.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The design of Bloomisio turned out better than what I had expected. As a beginner programmer, I had the courage to participate in a Hackathon with over 200 participants. I had fun creating Bloomisio.

What I learned

Through creating Bloomisio, I feel that I am getting more comfortable with designing websites using HTML and CSS. The next project that I participate should be with a team of other front-end or back-end developers. By teaming up with other programmers, the challenges that I faced can be avoided.

What's next for Bloomisio

Bloomisio will have more customization options in the future. Not only will there be more wrapping paper designs and string designs, but customers will also have the option to customize greeting cards and have additional add-on items, such as chocolates and other treats, all of which will be made with eco-friendly materials. For now, the website itself is the main focus for improvements.
