Inspiration
One of our members had 67 tabs open researching shopping options (including polka shoes). She figured that many others may share the same challenge of having to manually check through for sales. To solve this problem, we had the idea to bring all of these projects into a singular 3D space that makes it less stressful to compare your options.
What it does
BloomCart centralizes your shopping, helps you understand price changes over time, and also helps explain the environmental impacts of the products you're considering.
How we built it
We used React Three Fiber and TypeScript on the frontend to create an immersive 3D space with engaging interactions. Additionally, we use a Chrome extension to scan your tabs for all of the items in your various carts.
On the backend, we are using FastAPI as an API layer over the Postgres database. The database keeps track of price changes over time.
Challenges we ran into
The main difficulty was making the 3D environment engaging and intuitive.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are extremely proud to share that we've collectively spent over 800,000 tokens, likely more. Also, the 3D environment and assets turned out amazing.
What we learned
We learned React Three Fiber. None of us had previously worked on 3D web apps. So there were several challenges in laying out an interactive 3D environment.
What's next for BloomCart
Deeper insights, more engaging shopping experiences, and a cleaner interactive experience.
