Inspiration
Our inspiration for Bloom Buddy stems from the desire to create an advanced plant monitoring system that addresses the critical factors influencing plant health, such as light levels, temperature, moisture, and water levels.
What it does
Bloom Buddy is a comprehensive plant monitoring system that effectively manages and regulates the environmental parameters surrounding a plant. The system incorporates LED lights to visually represent the condition of an environmental attribute and provides instructions for resolving any issues via an LCD display.
How we built it
We constructed Bloom Buddy by integrating a micro-controller, Arduino IDE, and a variety of sensors, including a water level sensor, moisture sensor, temperature sensor and light sensor. The design employs LED lights for intuitive feedback on sensor conditions and an LCD display for delivering clear instructions on addressing plant-related issues.
Challenges we ran into
Constructing the prototype posed a significant challenge for our team. We were unable to make a functioning case due to delays in 3d printing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed a fully operational hardware within the designated time frame for the competition, something we had not been able to do for prior competitions.
What we learned
The development of Bloom Buddy provided us with valuable insights into optimizing sensor integration, ensuring precision in data monitoring, enhancing user interface design, and comprehensively understanding the operational ranges of the sensors.
What's next for Bloom Buddy
Should we decide to proceed with the further development of Bloom Buddy, enhancements to the design could encompass expanding the scope to accommodate more plants. Additionally, we can integrating adjustable settings to cater to the unique environmental conditions required by a variety of plant species.
