Inspiration
Need of Blood Donation App Every 2 seconds, a person needs donated blood or platelets to survive a surgery, cancer treatment, a traumatic injury.
But blood stocks aren’t always high enough, especially during the winter when the holidays and nasty weather make some donations drop off. According to reports, each year, only 3 percent of the population actually gives blood.
So, to make this process more convenient, we came up with a solution of Blood Donation App.
What it does
• It helps you find places to donate and set up appointments. It also stores data about your blood donations so you can see how much you’ve donated and when it’s time to donate again. • The app sends out alerts about shortages so you can give blood when it’s needed most. • It even allows you to recruit new blood donors, creating a team of your friends and keeping track of your total donations. • The app is also able to locate the nearest blood center on map and calculate the time needed to reach there. • It also gives alerts/information about special recruitment events such as blood drives and promotions. • We help you to get confirmation of appointment quickly, within few hours of requesting your appointment. • We also allow you to review about the blood donation center including comments, suggestion, pictures. Your blood is put on ice at the donation center. It then is taken to a processing center and spun in a centrifuge, separating into red blood cells, platelets and plasma. These materials are stored in standardized units. After being tested for disease and blood type, eligible units are stored and distributed to hospitals. Red blood cells are used within 42 days and platelets within five days. Using the app, you can find out when your donation is transferred to the hospital.
How we built it
We at present designed the UI and UX design using Figma and we incorporated a logo using Adobe Express. We created an easy interface to solve this problem so that a systematic app will be designed in future which will solve the need and supply of the blood in any country.
Challenges we ran into
At first, having and working out on a good was the main challenge but we three guys made out to a very good app based idea which can be a feather in the cap of development in the smart city healthcare models. Our team believes challenges make us strong and always gives a better fighting approach in life.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We got a good experience on designs as we wanted a platform to test our skills so that we can understand how we gripped our designing skills. Starting and working with the project helped me and my team to have a better workflow with our idea.
Having a good start to the year with a hackathon competition giving us a good energy to work better to this project.
What we learned
We learned a lot in this span of time we got idea on how to manage time starting from a spark of idea to working it and executing out is the greatest learning. We learned good qualities like working as a team and understanding their strengths and abilities is a big learning. Having a good coordination with my teammates gives a lot more energy and motivation to work on the project.
What's next for Blood-IN-Need
This project will be a small start-up which will be a social hand in working out the need and supply of the blood thus saving human lives. This can be a good start-up for a social cause which can be implemented in the new year 2023. Last but not the least A Very Happy New Year to all of you watching have a good energy full of positivity and stay motivated for the new upcoming moments. I and my team heartily thank you all for presenting us the project. Regards Spandan Mukherjee(me) Nandhu K Devadas Anish Patro
