Picture a platform that can automatically remind and inform people when they are fit to donate blood, as well as where they can donate. This is the pain point we want to address, as currently in India, despite a huge population, the demand-supply gap for blood units persists. Where, only about 70% of the blood supply comes from voluntary donors, while the remaining 30% comes from replacement donors. Source of metrics

To tackle this, we utilize AI analytical capabilities and a modern dashboard application through which:

  • Utilizing the Gradient Boosting machine library (eg, XGBoost, LightGBM), we create a prediction model that can predict possible donors based on their previous blood donation history.
  • Then, through the predicted possible donor information, we will send them reminders on their contact information. This is useful in multiple scenarios as it will not only increase the donor's recurring participation, but this will also enable donors to be informed and knowledgeable when are suitable to donate blood again.
  • To gather information, we will utilize the dashboard application to collect their details and keep track of them.
  • In the application, donors can "Search for blood donation camps," "Look for blood banks," and they are also able to directly register for a camp, these features utilize the E-Raktkosh API. Also, donors are able to host a camp by submitting the required information and requiring manual approval for the camp.
  • For patients, the app mainly targets those with thalassemia by providing information about blood banks based on their location, blood type, and specific blood component needs. If a suitable blood bank isn't available, there is an option that guides them to the Thalassemia Patient Sign Up on e-raktkosh, so they can receive direct assistance.
