DonorApp

Inspiration

Almost every country in the world experiences the problem of shortage of blood in hospitals. For example, due to COVID-19, there was a huge shortage of blood in the hospitals in Germany. Poor countries have even bigger problems with blood and plasma banks. We think that this issue could be solved relatively easily by raising awareness and encouraging healthy people to donate blood.

What it does

With the help of our application DonorApp we want to nudge people to become regular donors. Our preliminary ideas are to arrange blood insurance, give discount vouchers for medicaments/medical treatment/medical insurance, events for regular donors, free blood tests for every donation. Apart from this, we are planning to inherit from some retailing apps some kind of referral system for the users of DonorApp.

How we built it

We designed a prototype chatbot in Telegram. The functionality of such a bot combined with a sqlite3 database can present what the DonorApp is really for and can be even used.

What's next for DonorApp

We would be glad to integrate our application into some charity, non-profit, or governmental program. For example, public medical insurance companies could officially give the regular donors of DonorApp discounts on medical insurance for their contribution to public health. Such integration would make it possible to gather more people within the app and create a really strong blood donating community across the globe.
