RedStream : AI-Powered Blood Support for Thalassemia
RedStream uses AI to predict blood needs and connect Thalassemia patients with donors, hospitals, and banks in real time-ensuring faster, safer and smarter transfusions"—saving more lives daily."
Inspiration : We were inspired by the daily struggles of Thalassemia patients who need frequent blood transfusions. Lack of timely donors often risks lives, so we wanted to build a smarter, connected system.
What it does : Red Stream connects patients with nearby donors in real time, predicts blood needs using AI and alerts hospitals and donors to ensure faster, reliable transfusion support.
How we built it : We used React for the frontend, Firebase for backend/auth, and Python (scikit-learn) for AI-based donor prediction. Google Maps API helps match donors based on location.
Challenges we ran into : Creating a reliable AI model, ensuring data privacy, and simulating real-world donor-patient flows were our biggest challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of : We built a working AI prediction system and a responsive platform that solves a real problem in healthcare.
What we learned : Tech can truly save lives when combined with empathy and real-world understanding.
What's next for Red Stream: AI-Powered Blood Support for Thalassemia : We plan to launch a mobile version, integrate with national donor networks, and collaborate with hospitals and NGOs.
