Inspiration

Adult mortality rate of India increased from 25.01 deaths per 100 population in 1975 to 30.51 deaths per 100 population in 2020 growing at an average annual rate of 2.28%. Out of which huge fraction of people died due to blood shortages. To ensure sustainability of lives, we thought it much to design a mobile+web application that allows people desperately in need of blood to get quick access to blood in their neighborhood and locality without distance being a challenge to them getting good health care.

What it does

It provides an opportunity for donors to have the chance to donate blood freely at their convenience and at the nearest preferred blood donation center close to them without necessarily visiting a hospital. Just like a social app you get to see posts of people in need and you can connect to them to donate.

How we built it

Various technologies like html, css, javascript, Firebase, React were used to run this successful app.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating firebase’s database with React Js in it, was quite a bit of challenge that we faced while building it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud to have come up with potential solution that addresses the discovered problems, putting the patients and donors in mind. Having noted and pinpointing the pain points, frustrations, needs, emotions of donors due to the following problems: i) The process of blood donation is cumbersome and tiring for a lot of people ii) The challenge of not being able to find donors nearby or readily available iii) Lack of proper awareness to donors on the benefits attached to blood donation to citizens iv) Poor Motivation to Donate

What we learned

Learnt to work upon authentication and handling database in Firebase and working in deep with React Js.

What's next for Rakt-Rekha

We aim to widen up this idea of connecting donors not just for blood but organs too. Improving the UI, features, searches, enabling notification and much more to come ahead.
