Inspiration
Uganda is grappling with a critical shortage of blood that is affecting services and putting patients’ lives at risk. The health ministry’s blood bank facility in the capital, Kampala, which stores and distributes supplies to hospitals, is practically empty. It has just 150 units of blood remaining, not enough to meet requirements on an average day in the city. Nationally, Uganda needs at least 340,000 units of safe blood annually, but usually only collects 200,000 a year. so my passion to help the ministry save the lives of those who have no access to blood and be able to save their lives is a key feature of my application
What it does
Blood crowd is a mobile application that can be used by blood donors in being notified when donations (within their vicinities) are being carried out. The Donors can be regularly updated with vital information concerning blood transfusion in the country such as shortage of blood, the merits and benefits of donation, information about their blood groups. The application will use geospatial technologies to know the locations of the donors and organizations carrying out donations such as Uganda Red Cross Society.
How I built it
The app is to be built on flutter frame work and artificial intelligence with the help of geospatial technology to help user locate donation addresses
Challenges I ran into
It has been a short period of time to implement the app because the time but app development is underway and inadequate knowledge on implementing the technologies which will require us the developers to start learning a technology then apply
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
It has really been hard getting up a team to start development be with my team now intact we can get somethings accomplished
What I learned
Team work is key for any successful person so my team and I are really getting ready to start development
What's next for Blood crowd
Blood crowd implementation is underway. we believe with the world shifting to artificial intelligence ,incorporating a live chatbot into the app fro personal interaction would fill in the gap of intimidation as other users feel uncomfortable telling personal problems to the medics
