Inspiration

According to WHO, 1 donated unit of whole blood can save up to THREE lives 90% of people who are ELIGIBLE to donate blood are not doing so More than 4.5 million patients await blood transfusions each year in the U.S. and Canada ALONE. We have tried to solve this issues.

We are strictly asking the users while registering to accept the rules and then register them.

What it does

BloodBuds is a WEB application that tackles the issue in regards to the shortage of blood around the world by providing the real-time location of donors near to the victim.

We have provided a function to send a text message when in the conditions of emergency to the nearest registered donors.

This platform creates a safe space for blood donors to connect with those in need. It is aimed to make it easily accessible for individuals who are interested, with an extremely friendly UI. We hope that the simplicity and explicitly of the project allows users to easily comprehend the growing issue around the world.

How we built it

We took the real-time location of the user and used it to locate nearby blood banks and Registered donors on our website.

Challenges we ran into

Making the app to track real-time location on the Google map and then locate their location and give them the donor's locations. Furthermore, implementing the map into the frontend and creating an easy and user-friendly design that focuses on the quick donation process of blood.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

BloodBuds is aimed to tackle the issue of blood shortages around the world.

Connecting donors with donees, raising awareness of this growing concern, and providing a platform for safe and informational communication are all weapons geared towards addressing this problem.

What's next for Blood Buds

However, BloodBuds is currently only viable in countries with more lenient laws and regulations, since it does not consider if the donor’s health qualifies to donate blood.

A future implementation that will help bring BloodBuds to a global standpoint would be to implement verification of eligibility to donate blood, and status of health.
