What is the track you chose and the problem your solution addresses?

Track 3: Defining Self-Identity

As college students and young adults, it can be difficult to carve out time for self-exploration with a towering workload. It can be a challenge just identifying the building blocks that define who we are, let alone finding a platform to keep track of all our different facets. With our app Bloo, we seek to make an app that allows these users to do both in a simple and intuitive way while encouraging self-expression.

Why did you pick this solution, and how does it address the problem?

Inspired by the way children play with blocks to exercise their creativity and learn about the world around them, Bloo encourages users to do the same play to make expressive creations that explore their own identity. By building a tower of blocks made up of daily accomplishments, challenges, and even pitfalls, users are given a visual reminder throughout their day of the moments that matter to them the most. Users can also invite loved ones to contribute their own blocks adding a unique perspective and look to their tower. Additionally, with each passing day, Bloo prompts users to knock down their tower, where similar to turning a new page, signifies a willingness to discover new aspects of oneself. However, for blocks that hold precious meanings, users can save them in a "perpetual tower” which serves as a recap of the building blocks that shaped users to who they are today.
