Inspiration
We love NFTs. Everybody loves NFTs. But NFTs have some downsides. The value of the SOL you paid to mint your NFT is locked up in the NFT. The NFT still has value, but you cannot use this right away. NFTs also have a huge liquidity problem, your NFT could be sitting in auction for weeks or months with no one willing to purchase it.
We're the world's first metaverse ecosystem powering: NFT Lending/Borrowing, NFT Farming, metaverse token & NFT swaps, metaverse Launches, and more!
What it does
Blockverse solves the NFT-(il)liquidity problem. We focus on all solutions to provide liquidity around NFTs. This includes collateralizing NFTs for lending & borrowing, NFT staking and farming, and NFT swapping.
Challenges we ran into
We are a group of members driven by the vision. We came together through Discord. Project management was definitely a difficulty, members coming and leaving was too. By now, a core team has crystallized, however, strong together, equal, and working towards the vision.
Another challenge was the missing documentation around the solana documentation ecosystem. Anchor, spl and spl-token provide excellent tools, most other projects lack documentation to read on and understand better about what the best-practices are on coding, specifically writing Solana contracts. We had previous experience in Rust and Typescript, but the learning curve for this project was yet another beast. Integration with Phantom (for generic / more complex transactions) was not straightforward either.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We tested, ran and deployed the smart contract on the devnet! We understand how to use and develop these from scratch now (using Anchor). Also we all are enjoying this work so much, working together with equally passionate people.
Creating a user friendly UI/UX, we believe that UI/UX seems to fall by the wayside when diving into the intricacies of smart contract development, but we have put a lot of thought and effort into creating a very intuitive and user facing application that people can navigate through with ease.
We want to build an ecosystem that feels satisfying to use, an ecosystem users will want to return to and continue using for many years. The Solana ecosystem has set a high bar in terms of improving the overall UI/UX of the blockchain application world. We want to raise that bar even higher.
The end result of our design efforts is something we're extremely proud of. Please feel free to navigate through the project application to test it for yourselves!
What we learned
Some of the most obvious things that we learned from this hackathon are about technical points and topics on remote-/team-work. We are a group of anons that found one each other online! We shared a common vision, and we learned how to effectively communicate with team members in order to encourage a diversity of thoughts, ideas, and opinions.
As for the technical points, we learned a lot about how to initialize, start, modify, deploy, test and invoke smart contracts. To a large extent, this was faciliated through the Anchor Rust framework, through all the documentation provided in the Solana docs (all the small details, like variables being addresses, etc.), and specifically on the SPL-Token program, which did a lot of the heavy-lifting on creating tokens and minting those. Integration with (Phantom) wallets is also a big topic, and we understand that we want to be part of this community, and push it to the next level. Although we knew rust and typescript to a good extent before, the program paradigm that one has to adapt is different when it is about Solana / Smart Contract programming.
What's next for Blockverse
We want to do this full-time! And we will find a way to do so. Contact us, we are passionate about DeFI and the crypto community, we are builders and tinkerers.
