BlockToHome

Inspiration

BlockToHome was inspired by the challenges many people face in accessing affordable housing and fair lending opportunities. Coming from a finance background, I saw how traditional mortgage systems often create barriers through high interest rates and limited access to credit. My goal was to design a community-based, interest-free lending and investment model using blockchain to make homeownership more inclusive.

What it does

BlockToHome is a blockchain-based real estate tokenization platform that enables community-driven, interest-free property investment and lending.

How we built it

BlockToHome was structured on a Web3 architecture, integrating fractional real estate tokenization and collaborative saving pools backed by stable digital assets (USDT and Gold Tokens). Smart contracts were developed to automate funding, ownership transfers, and yield distribution among participants.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges included designing a compliant model that aligns with financial regulations, ensuring transparency in tokenized asset management, and building trust among users. Overcoming these required careful research, collaboration with legal experts, and continuous iteration of the platform’s design.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developed a compliant, interest-free lending model that bridges traditional finance and DeFi principles. Designed a functional tokenization framework for fractional real estate ownership. Integrated Polkadot’s interoperability features to support scalable and cross-chain asset management.

What we learned

Through this project, I deepened my understanding of smart contracts, tokenization, and decentralized finance (DeFi). I also learned how cross-chain interoperability, such as that offered by Polkadot, can enhance scalability and connectivity for tokenized real estate assets. Additionally, I explored regulatory frameworks to ensure compliance with financial standards.

What's next for BlockToHome

Next, BlockToHome will launch its MVP, onboard strategic partners, integrate with Polkadot for scalability, ensure regulatory compliance, enhance user experience, and expand community engagement globally.
