Inspiration
I’ve always loved sports. I watch every game I can, I follow all the stats, and I play whenever I get the chance.I always used to wonder what if my profile was also recorded like the pros. Local sports, especially gully, school, and amateur leagues, produce incredible moments, but their records disappear instantly. We wanted a way to preserve these performances forever, without bias or manipulation. The idea was to give local athletes the same transparency and recognition that professional leagues enjoy. That sparked the creation of BlockScore.
What it does
BlockScore allows organisers to create tournaments, upload full match scorecards, and instantly store them on-chain. Every score, wicket, and stat becomes verifiable and tamper-proof. Players get a transparent performance history, and fans get a trustworthy source of local match results. It brings professionalism to grassroots sports.
How we built it
We built the frontend using React and Tailwind for a clean and simple UI. For blockchain storage, we used Polkadot and smart contracts to ensure every score is cryptographically secured. The flow includes wallet login, tournament creation, match entry, and on-chain publishing. The entire system is designed for speed, accuracy, and transparency.
Challenges we ran into
Structuring score entry to be both powerful and easy for local organizers was challenging. Wallet authentication and on-chain interactions required careful testing. We also had to design a UI that works even for users unfamiliar with Web3 concepts. Ensuring fast performance while saving data on-chain was another hurdle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a real, functional platform that records local sports scores and verifies them permanently. Seeing tournaments, teams, and players come to life on-chain felt rewarding. We are proud of the clean and intuitive interface built in a short time. Most importantly, we built something that can genuinely impact grassroots sports.
What we learned
We learned how decentralized storage can solve trust issues that have existed in local sports for years. We gained experience integrating Polkadot wallets smoothly into a consumer-facing app. We discovered how important UX is when dealing with blockchain interactions. And we realized how big the potential is for verified amateur sports data.
What's next for BlockScore
We plan to add more sports, detailed player profiles, and verified leaderboards. Mobile apps, live scoring, and AI-powered stat breakdowns are also on the roadmap. We want to partner with schools, colleges, and local leagues to adopt the platform. BlockScore will evolve into the digital identity layer for all grassroots athletes.
