Blockchain based crime reporting and analysis

The application therefore concentrates on decentralized crime reporting and its analysis, using GIS deployment as a mapping tool for crime activities.

🔥Inspiration

Together with insecurity issues, urbanization, and the growth in poverty have led to increasing crime in most emerging countries. This trend has led to riots and enormous responsibilities for India's new population. This necessitates that new techniques be created to cope with crime predominance in cities.

🌟What it does

It enables public to report crime occurrence in your surrounding, which will have a decentralized identifier to prevent any fraudulent steps to alter the reports, which is quite common in a centralized system. It also provides various GIS features to understand any underline topological problems which led to crime in certain area or time, which eventually help reduce crime itself.

⚒️How we built it

we used Hedera's new blockchain and hashgraph technology, we used its testnet to uniquely ID our reports. Hedera has low gas or transaction fee, which makes it perfect for these types of DAP projects.

✏️Accomplishments that we're proud of

Heatmaps, a unique data projection/ visualization technique which was perfect for our analysis feature.

We learned a lot about blockchain and GIS possibilities and would like to make more projects using these technologies.

✨What's next for Blockchain based crime reporting and analysis

We would like to add more blockchain based functionalities in the application to provide more decentralized service, which we need more time for.
