Inspiration
What inspired us was a problem in the retail aviation industry, where customers are double-booking flights. We
knew we wanted to use block chain to solve this huge problem, but we did not see any social good in it; therefore,
we decided to research problems in the food retail market.
What it does
By scanning a consumer product through a simple code, our mobile app will reveal a user interface that allows the
tracking of the product from its source which includes location, origin, age, and more.
How I built it
We built a graphical user interface of this product using Figma.
Challenges I ran into
The challenges we ran into were finding a suitable time for everyone to meet and figuring out how block chain can be
applied to the retail industry for social good (i.e. solve a problem in this industry using block chain).
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
One accomplishment I am proud of is being able to work very well with my team in a virtual environment; every
team member did their part of researching and designing the new technology. I am also proud of the extensive
research that our team did in the span of 48 hours (see powerpoint for all research).
What I learned
I learned about the new block chain technology and how it can be applied to different real-world scenarios to
improve processes.
What's next for Block Chain Tracking App for Retail Food Products
The next steps would be to overcome the challenges of block chain technology, as it still continuing to develop.
Also, our product would need to collaborate with a large retail company in order for it to continue to develop and
gain traction.
