Inspiration

BlazeWatch was inspired by the devastating impact of wildfires, particularly the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. We wanted to create a system that could help prevent such disasters in the future by providing early fire detection in high-risk areas.

What it does

BlazeWatch uses a live webcam, temperature, and humidity sensors to continuously monitor environments for signs of fire. The system sends instant alerts through an app, enabling users to act quickly and prevent potential damages.

How we built it

We integrated a live webcam with temperature and humidity sensors and developed a robust detection algorithm to identify fire indicators.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges in fine-tuning the fire detection to accurately detect fires without false alarms. Additionally, ensuring seamless communication between the sensors and the mobile app proved to be technically complex.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

We successfully built a prototype that can detect fires using live temperature and humidity data and send alerts to users.

What we learned:

We learned about the importance of sensor accuracy and the challenges of integrating hardware with mobile applications.

What's Next?

We plan to fine-tune BlazeWatch and further work on the fine details of the project. We believe that it can be a crucial tool in helping many, and hope to create a full-fledged app downloadable for anybody. We would most likely improve our sensor quality next as well.
