Inspiration
Blank Eyes: Country House is a prequel to my feature-length zombie script, and it began with a simple question: What happened before the world fell apart? I wanted to explore the origin of the outbreak, not in a city or a lab complex, but in a secluded country house owned by the family behind a powerful pharmaceutical company. The story follows a secret research team, a doctor, and a pair of twins… until one twin becomes trapped inside the underground lab, forcing the others into a desperate rescue.
Bringing a piece of my long-form script to life felt like stepping closer to the filmmaker I want to become.
What it does
This project visualizes the first fracture in a world on the brink of infection. It builds: A tense, contained setting inside a rural estate A secret lab where the earliest experiments take place Characters whose loyalty fractures under pressure A rescue mission that reveals more than it saves It serves as a bridge between screenplay and screen, a way to showcase tone, atmosphere, and emotional stakes before the main story begins.
How we built it
I used several AI tools to experiment with: Rural environment design Interior labs disguised within a family estate Character consistency for the twins and the doctor Action-driven shots inside a cramped underground space Some shots were hard to control, AI has a mind of its own when it comes to angles and precision — but embracing imperfection was part of the process.
Challenges we ran into
Maintaining visual continuity between the country house and the hidden lab Getting AI tools to respect character likeness, especially for the twins Producing action-oriented shots without losing clarity Accepting that not every frame would behave exactly as the script imagined But these challenges mirrored real filmmaking: even with a full crew, no shot is ever truly perfect.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Bringing a piece of a feature script into visual form Establishing the tone and world of the zombie universe Designing a rural setting that hides something industrial and sinister Finishing the project quickly while still telling a coherent story
What we learned
This project taught me: That AI is a tool, not a shortcut, and it behaves like any unpredictable collaborator Consistency takes patience, iteration, and flexibility Bringing your own script to life, even in small fragments, is energizing Every imperfect frame still moves the story forward Most importantly, I learned that showing your work is part of becoming the filmmaker you want to be. What's Next for Blank Eyes: Country House
What's next for Blank Eyes: Country House
Next steps include: Expanding this prequel into a series of short sequences that connect directly to the feature Building clearer visual motifs for the twins, the lab, and the infection Creating more action beats to test pacing and tension Preparing materials to integrate into the full-length production package This project was just the beginning, a first step into bringing the Blank Eyes universe from script to screen.
