Inspiration
The increasing demand for energy and the need for alternate sources inspired us to look for places where we can tap energy. The piezoelectric phenomenon can help us to harvest energy from the steps we take to charge low power devices like our digital companion, smartphone.
What it does
Shoes equipped with piezo sensors generate voltage. It can charge a capacitor from each step and this energy is collected for powering any device.
Challenges we ran into
On average a human walks above 4000 steps a day and from our theoretical calculations it's not enough to charge a smartphone fully.
What's next for The Sole generator
we'll try this on with other materials to get more power and improve the design
