Project Story: Blade in the Dark

A chaotic tale born from the darkest chapter of my upcoming novel, "Sunderer" the Siege of Bryion; an event so horrific it only exists in whispers and laments. Blade in the Dark depicts the unrelenting terror unleashed when demonic forces descend on a city under siege, feeding not just on blood, but on the madness of war itself. At the centre of the storm is a man who would become known as the Butcher of Bryion, a figure both feared and exalted, but has history treated him fairly? The video twists expectation by pairing an upbeat, major-key track with horrifying imagery, forcing viewers to confront joy and violence in the same breath.

This isn’t just a story. It’s the moment the tides of an empire began to turn and the darkness began to sing.

Inspiration:

When I first wrote this song, I imagined something far darker; minor keys, sorrowful tones, something slow and brooding. But as I began experimenting with Suno’s prompts, something unexpected happened: the result was bolder, brighter, even celebratory, a triumphant riff carrying lyrics soaked in blood. I nearly scrapped it. But the dissonance between sound and subject kept haunting me.

Rather than fight it, I embraced it. I wrote new characters. I twisted entire plotlines of an upcoming novel. I reimagined the Siege itself, just to make this vision fit. I shelved it in January, waiting for AI tools and my own skills to catch up.

The Chroma Awards arrived at just the right moment. It feels like this was meant to happen.
