Inspiration
Our team loves to play Blackjack and desired to share the love of Blackjack with others. Because of this joy, our team wanted to create an application that would assist others in learning the rules and strategy of Blackjack in a risk-free space, where one does not acquire the risk of losing money.
What it does
This program allows the user to play Blackjack against the dealer and includes bots to stimulate other players in the game. Once the game is over, the user receives an analysis of their plays and recommendations on how they could have played their cards in a more optimal way.
How we built it
We built the logic of the game using JavaScript while the webpage application aspects are written in HTML. We used CSS to improve the design of the application.
Challenges we ran into
Because this was all of our first hackathons, we struggled on how to complete the code in such a short time frame. However, we were able to solve this challenge by allocating tasks and working together to create a final project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As relatively inexperienced coders, we are proud that we were able to create such a program in 24 hours. We are especially proud that our project is able to analyze the player's moves as that was the initial goal of the project.
What we learned
We learned the versatility of code and how different coding languages can be combined to create a webpage that has both design and functionality. In addition to coding, we learned the importance of teamwork, particularly when working within a tight deadline.
What's next for BlackjackXpert
After uploading the project to Github, we plan to upload the project onto the domain blackjackxpert.co.
