Inspiration
My team and I weren't originally sure what program to design, we threw around some ideas and settled upon a simple version of a popular poker game.
What it does
This program is a simple application that emulates games of Blackjack in which you are the player and the cpu is the dealer
How I built it
My team and I used the Java programming language to write and implement the classes and algorithms in this program; we made use of one- and two-dimensional arrays for the storage of cards and hands, loops for the iteration of hands, and switch and if-else statements for the determination of outcomes
Challenges I ran into
Some challenges my team and I ran into include: a short amount of time, a meager amount of programming knowledge and experience, and challenging logic/probabilities
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Some major accomplishments are the utilization of Netbeans to create a reasonable UI, consideration of even the smallest of probabilities in writing the algorithms of this program, and the ability to successfully integrate an understanding of complex logic into a program
What I learned
The major learning points of this project involve the development of UI, the importance of teamwork, and how to successfully complement the abilities of each teammate
What's next for Blackjack
What's next? The opportunity exists to add more complicated rules of the game, add more players, and further develop the UI
Note: The number converter classes on my GitHub are part of a back-up program in the event that our Blackjack program did not succeed. The numberConverter1.java file is the main method that implements the class and methods in the numberConverter2.java files. While there are still some bugs in this one, it was a secondary project spearheaded by our good friend Yuantai Pan as he was unable to be here for more than a couple of hours.
