Inspiration

Our world today is undeniably digital. BlackArts exists to connect artists in a digital world that allows them to showcase their talents, collaborate and learn from each other…it's Facebook plus a bit of LinkedIn but for artists!!!! This idea came about due to the fact that covid-19 has made it hard for artists to interact with each other. Furthermore, it is also a publicly open website and one does not need to be an artist nor black to be part of the community. It can be used for clubs in the university community to connect different people with different cultures, music and art. The "groups" part of the platform makes it possible for users to be part of a virtual community and through this platform, users can share their thoughts, experiences, art and music relating to topics being discussed just like Black Lives Matter in the demo.

What it does

It is a social media platform for artists.

How we built it

We started by creating an HTML +css website and later developed the idea and used an open-source social network, played around with the code and personalized the website to a black theme.

Challenges we ran into

Time constraints Learning curve

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to make 3 accounts that interacted really well with each other

What we learned

It was the first time creating a website and the whole process was a learning journey from start to end.

What's next for BlackArts

The website still needs to be worked on, better themes, more functions, better publicity and advertisement so we can reach a large number of people. Another future development would be linking other social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook so our users can interact on different platforms.
