L-B&B

Inspiration Amid challenging times, local businesses often struggle to reach and retain customers. We wanted to create a platform that bridges the gap between these small businesses and their communities, fostering economic resilience and support through easy access and discovery.

What it does L-B&B connects local businesses with consumers by allowing users to discover, explore, and support businesses nearby. It offers a user-friendly interface to browse business profiles, learn about their offerings, and access contact or order information, making community commerce seamless and impactful.

How we built it We developed L-B&B as a web application using modern frontend technologies for a responsive and engaging UI. Leveraging open APIs for location services and business data enhanced discovery features, while the backend supported business listings and user interactions. The stack focused on rapid development with React and integrated mapping APIs for local search.

Challenges we ran into One challenge was efficiently integrating location-based search to accurately match users with relevant nearby businesses. Balancing a clean, intuitive UI with comprehensive business information also required iterative design. Additionally, implementing a seamless user experience within a tight timeline pushed us to prioritize features carefully.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Despite the time constraints, we successfully built a functional MVP that showcases core features — local business discovery and detailed profiles. The responsive design ensures usability across devices, and the platform’s search functionality effectively connects users to their community’s businesses.

What we learned We gained valuable experience in integrating geolocation services and iterating user interfaces rapidly. Prioritizing MVP features taught us to focus on what truly adds value. Collaborating under tight deadlines highlighted the importance of clear communication and task division within the team.

What's next for L-B&B Moving forward, we plan to add user reviews and ratings to enhance trust, implement business owners’ dashboards for easy updates, and introduce personalized recommendations using AI. Expanding to support online orders or bookings would further empower local businesses and enrich the community experience.
