Inspiration
One of our groupmate's cousins is a teething baby, and he saw how much trouble that the mother had with trying to find why the baby was uncomfortable and crying.
What it does
BiteBud is a smart teether concept that tracks how often, how long, and how intensely a baby chews. Its planned AI assistant explains changes in simple summaries to help caregivers follow their baby’s routine.
How we built it
We created an idea first, and then we researched similar products, made our first prototype, and coded a website where all the data from the pressure sensor goes. We are currently in the process of making the pressure sensing mechanism of our final prototype.
Challenges we ran into
Finding baby safe materials, creating a completely unique idea that no one else has implemented yet. Designing the prototypes that are baby safe and don't have any choking hazards.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Top 10 at a 1500+ school-led competition. We pitched our product in front of real world experts who specialized in IT, Healthcare, and Engineering.
What we learned
We learned how to cooperate with others, how to make pitches, how to live pitch, how to ideate and solve real problems, how to do market analysis, making functional prototypes and drafting them, and eventually creating a final product.
What's next for Bitebud
Creating a baby cap that can detect head movement, crying, and skin temperature. Getting our product out to market. Creating our final prototype.
