Inspiration

As a foodie and traveler, I learned the most about a culture through what the locals ate. Food tells a lot about culture because it shows what resources are available in a country and how they make use of it. Living in America, I feel like there are a good number of people who don't appreciate food and I believe this prevents them from learning about other cultures. I want to educate people on foods from around the world and where they originate from so people can appreciate each other's culture.

What it does

My app allows users to find food from around the world, learn about them in their cultural context, and favorite them to share with friends.

How we built it

I'm a designer so I just created a Figma prototype

Challenges we ran into

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get proper user research done. Also, I didn't have a team and I don't have coding knowledge, so I wasn't able to develop the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud to be able to complete my first hackathon with such a limited time due to a busy weekend.

What we learned

I learned to give myself enough time before a hackathon to gather teammates with the skillsets I need.

What's next for Bite

I would like to do more user interviews and testing to improve Bite. Also, I think it would be a cool app to launch.
