Inspiration
The Bitcoin Black Flowers project draws inspiration from the burgeoning world of high-quality art projects within the Bitcoin ecosystem. As the Bitcoin blockchain's block space remains extremely limited, we faced the challenge of creating art pieces that could fit within these constraints. Rather than viewing this constraint as a limitation, we chose to embrace it, transforming it into a cornerstone of our creative process for producing unique artworks dedicated exclusively to Bitcoin.
What it does
We've reimagined the creative process of Grace Hye, a talented artist known for her black ink paintings and ceramics, to craft digital artworks tailored for inscription into the Bitcoin blockchain. The Bitcoin Black Flowers project has developed algorithms for the random generation of 2D and 3D black flowers. These algorithms serve as the building blocks, allowing the artist to customize and combine them to create the final digital artwork.
How we built it
Our transformational journey was made possible by the innovative tools developed by OCM Dimensions. For the 2D version of the Black Flowers, we utilized HTML code (including JavaScript for SVG canvas generation) that could be efficiently compressed using OCM Dimensions' tools before being etched into the Bitcoin blockchain. Meanwhile, the 3D rendition of the Black Flowers leverages the power of the Three.js library, previously inscribed by the OCM Dimensions team into Bitcoin. This library empowers us to create captivating 3D artworks.
Challenges we ran into
Transitioning from physical art to exclusively digital creations was a monumental shift for Grace Hye, who always strives for the utmost quality in her works. While mastering the technical tools was essential, the greatest challenge lay in maintaining the high standards of excellence she sets for her creations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We take immense pride in swiftly navigating this transformative journey, transitioning to digital art in a remarkably short time frame. Our path involved rapid learning, the exploration of new technologies, and numerous iterations before reaching the desired level of quality in our scripted artworks. The art pieces presented at this hackathon represent the culmination of countless iterations, and we're delighted with their exceptional quality and high resolution.
What we learned
Our journey has been a rich learning experience, encompassing Ordinals, recursive processes on Bitcoin, composable and generative coding techniques, and the intricate world of 3D libraries. Despite the condensed timeline, this journey has been both fascinating and enlightening.
What's next for Bitcoin Black Flowers
In the upcoming months, we aspire to launch a limited edition 2D collection of Bitcoin Black Flowers, featuring approximately 50 to 100 exclusive pieces. Additionally, we're eager to explore the integration of effects and interactivity into our 2D artworks. Beyond this, our future plans include finalizing a 3D collection of Bitcoin Black Flowers and preparing for its launch, marking the next exciting phase of our project.
