Inspiration

My biggest inspiration was my 6-year-old daughter. Every year I watch her dream about her birthday, and it made me realize that while birthdays are magical for children, they are often stressful for parents. Finding trusted vendors means jumping between Instagram, WhatsApp and Google.

I wanted to build something bigger than a marketplace. Every birthday takes a village—bakers, decorators, entertainers, photographers, venues and many small businesses. BirthdayStop brings this entire ecosystem under one roof.

What it does

BirthdayStop is a one-stop platform where parents can discover trusted birthday vendors, compare services, manage their celebrations, and eventually avoid duplicate gifts through wishlists. Vendors can create verified profiles, showcase their work, and manage leads.

Our long-term vision is to connect charities, families, and vendors so that together we can sponsor birthdays for children who otherwise wouldn't get to celebrate.

How we built it

We built BirthdayStop using AI-assisted development with OpenAI Codex, rapidly iterating on ideas, UX, and features. We focused on creating a simple experience for parents while giving vendors the tools they need to grow their businesses.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part wasn't building—it was prioritizing. Every day we had new ideas that could make birthdays even better, and deciding what to include in the first version was the biggest challenge. AI made implementation faster, but product decisions still required constant iteration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Built a working end-to-end birthday marketplace.

What we learned

We learned that AI dramatically accelerates product development, allowing us to spend more time solving real user problems. More importantly, we learned that the best products come from solving problems you genuinely care about.

What's next for BirthdayStop

We're expanding the platform with Instagram-verified vendor onboarding, lead management, birthday wishlists, AI-powered planning, and personalized recommendations.

Our ultimate vision is for BirthdayStop to become the home of the birthday ecosystem—bringing together families, businesses, and charities so that every child can experience a birthday worth remembering.
