Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that affects a surprisingly large number of people in the US and affects everyone differently. Although treatments exist to help regulate periods of depression and mania, patients only visit their doctors once every few months. In addition, patients may lose track of when they need to take their medications, among other obstacles. The goal of Project Bipolar Disorder Patient Tracker is to make life more comfortable for patients with bipolar disorder through improving the patient-physician relationship, increasing communication, and offering relevant data and information that can advise on patient activity and well-being between and during manic and depressive cycles. The two main goals of our project are to track patients' bipolar depression cycles through physical/mental signals and improve the treatment process for patients with bipolar disorder during these cycles. Ultimately, we are looking to develop a software application and pair it with a wearable device to allow for more streamlined tracking of patient treatment strategies. Finally, we will test the device on actual patients over a period of time and make further enhancements on our product.
