Inspiration

The inspiration behind BioVantage AI came from my younger brother. He was always fatigued and tired. Before going to the doctor, we tried to search up all the possible diagnosis he could have, but nothing seemed reliable. After $150 and a trip to the doctor's office, we found out he has low ferritin levels along with iron deficiency. Ultimately, this experience showed me how difficult it can be to find reliable, accurate health information online, so I went ahead and took initiative. My younger brother and I vibecoded a platform that could make medical information more accessible at no cost.

What it does

BioVantage AI uses artificial intelligence to analyze user-provided symptoms and clinical images, then provides educational insights. It is a platform that is designed with various other aspects, such as a Daily Challenge Leaderboard and even a Global Disease Map.

How we built it

We combined AI-powered analysis with a simple, user-friendly interface. I used my previous coding knowledge from my AP classes and utilized JavaScript and Java to create the backend of the application. After testing it with Ph.D. individuals through my parents' connections, we published it as a web application and created our personal domain, https://biovantage.ai.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was balancing useful AI-generated information with accuracy. Additionally, connecting the DNS servers and API keys to work properly was incredibly difficult and used up a week of our time, but in the end, we did it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The biggest accomplishment we are proud of was definitely connecting the DNS server and API keys. Other than that, it was officially publishing our app and hitting 50 users with over 70+ hours of engagement.

What we learned

I think the biggest thing we learned was understanding how to apply AI to a real-world problem and figuring out different ways to create solutions. In the future, AI is just going to become more and more prominent, so I think learning how it operates will help generations.
