Inspiration

Biostrife was inspired by my lifelong passion for strategy games and immersive storytelling. I wanted to design a game where players don’t just win or lose — they reshape the world. The satirical backdrop of an epidemic, Acute Boredom Syndrome (ABS), gave the project a unique hook: a fake news campaign that frames Biostrife itself as the cure to boredom.

What it does

-Biostrife (the game):

A world-domination deck-building game where factions battle for control, using strategy, resource management, and tactical plays.

-ABS News Report (the campaign):

A satirical fake news video that dramatizes a global “boredom epidemic” cured by distributing Biostrife. It blends humor, realism, and dystopian flavor to make the project stand out.

How we built it

-The game:

Game Design: Started with paper prototypes, iterated through multiple rounds of testing. Story & Lore: Developed scripts for news anchors, reporters, and quarantine scenarios to flesh out the ABS satire. Visuals & Branding: Combined dystopian aesthetics with humor to avoid cliché cyberpunk tropes while still feeling impactful. Community Outreach: Built awareness through YouTube videos and a Kickstarter campaign.

-The video:

Using LTX, Kling, Hailuo and VO3 to render most videos with some seedance as well and image generation in most part done with Nano Banana, editing done with Shotcut, voice done with Eleven labs and music by Suno.

Challenges we ran into

-The game:

Balance vs. Accessibility: Making sure the game feels deep without being intimidating. Solo Development: Wearing every hat — designer, writer, marketer, and producer. Resource Constraints: Pushing creativity forward without a big budget. Marketing Translation: Turning an ambitious world into something digestible and fun for first-time viewers.

-The video:

Models not responding or assuming I was breaking rules when making this video had to go through multiple loopholes and explain it wasn't nothing illegal

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-The game:

Completed a fully playable deck-building prototype. Wrote and structured a satirical fake news campaign that feels both entertaining and believable. Built an audience with overlapping communities in gaming, storytelling, and dystopian satire. Launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring Biostrife into the hands of players worldwide.

The video:

Proud to have learned to use new tools

What we learned

-The game:

How to merge storytelling and mechanics so they feel inseparable. The power of humor and satire in creating viral, shareable content. Technical skills in probability, AI-assisted media creation, and narrative scripting.

-The video:

The importance of persistence — pushing forward through burnout, uncertainty, and creative doubt. We learned voices are easier made in Vo3 and adjusted after.

What's next for Biostrife ABS News Report

  • Expand the narrative campaign with more fake broadcasts, ads, and satirical skits.
  • Finalize Biostrife’s production and deliver it to Kickstarter backers.
  • Build digital adaptations of Biostrife for online play.
  • Grow the community of players and storytellers who want to expand the ABS satire into new formats.
